“I’d seen enough of Creedence Gentry to know he might be the worst thing I could do. Yet one lustful glance from him scrambled all my sanity.”
TRULY…
My life hasn’t been uneventful and a few things should have sunk in by now. I’m a tired age twenty one with a laundry list of heartbreaks. Most of all, I know what carnage comes from carelessly risking the heart. So what drives me to jump into bed with a brooding player who can barely carry a conversation?
It was supposed to be just one night.
One night of weakness, of passion, of every impulse I’d struggled to contain.
Yet I can’t stop myself from going back for more.
CREED…
Violence had always found us Gentrys but this time I’d put the price on my own head. It was my cross to bear. No flinching allowed.
There was only room for me, my brothers, and the resolve to survive. That’s all there ever had been.
There was certainly no reason for more than than a quick and dirty time with any girl, no matter how much she turned my head around.
I shouldn’t hold on to her for more than a few hours. I shouldn’t even think about it. This thing could finish us both.
It doesn’t matter. She’s all I want.
*Warning*
This book contains explicit language, sexual situations, and violence that may be upsetting to some.
‘RISK’ is the second novel in the New York Times and USA Today bestselling Gentry Boys series, however it may be read as a stand alone.

This was a great read. Last night, I started the sample, got to the part where the hero sees his heroine, locks those eyes on her hot and hard, and there was no keeping him from her, and I thought, hell, I have to buy and read this now, even though I hadn't read book 1 yet. I love a hero who knows what he wants and he makes sure he gets her: "I knew you were it as soon as I f'ing saw you tonight." Creed's very intense, no half-way with him. And yeah, it starts off as intense desire, but it develops into something more. Soon, Truly really is it for him, in every way that counts.Creed might have played it easy before, but once he's had a night with Truly, he's back for more. He's rough around the edges, gruff and not much on words, but he's the type of hero that, when he falls, he's all in and doesn't even try to fight it. He might not understand it, but he's loving how it feels to be with a girl who makes him want to be more, to be worthy. He and Truly are so good together, too.
Both are early twenties, both with painful childhoods for one reason or another, and both just a little damaged now and looking for love, a real, true kind of love. Truly has her own issues, and they were sad to read about. I liked her a lot; how strong she was, caring and sweet. Sweet Southern Truly. She doesn't think she deserves love, but she does. They both do.
I think I was most surprised at how romantic this story felt. The intimacy is strong, the romance soft, good-feeling and heartfelt, and that's due to how well the author wrote the characters. They're just very likable, and lovable, nothing fancy about them at all, no big-time jobs, no money to throw around, really just two young people making a hard road in life and trying to do their best.
Other things happen in the book, apparently some unfinished business for Creed from book 1, but it wasn't hard to follow along. I love these Gentry boys now and want to see them all find happiness. Hope Declan gets a book, too. It was probably meant for me to start with book 2. It was just my kind of romance and my type of h/H. Sweet and sexy, with real intimacy and a real feeling of love.

RISK Gentry Boys#2 edition by Cora Brent Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
I absolutely love this Author she is a magical writer that leaves you on the edge of your seat. The characters draw you in, you absolutely fall in love with each and everyone of them. You are touched by their story by their headache and what they have endured since the boys were little. I love how the boys all stick together and how their girls become their glue and put them back together piece by piece. Absolute must read although you can read it as a stand alone but are better read in order. All of the books each offer a little bit more of their story which makes you fall in love with them. The boys do need to be slapped up the side of their heads every now and again. They make you laugh and cry and get angry too. You will love it, i didn't put it down till it was finished.
This is a really solid, interesting romance. I'm a reader who enjoys alpha males and strong heroines with good sense and imperfections. This book had all of that. I'm not really into struggle romance so the whole scene where everyone is broke and trying to make ends meet isn't my favorite setting. Despite that hang up, I still couldn't help but to really like this book. The writing is good, the character development is 5 stars, the romance is authentic and the underlying conflicts are well developed and appropriately resolved. If the sex scenes had been a bit more descriptive, I think I would've probably given this book 5 stars despite everyone living in apartments and dining on fried chicken. The brevity of the sex scenes and the lack of description pushes this book towards the YA category and if you know me, you know I do not get down with the YA romance scene. This book stays enough on the border and has so many other good things that it still got a 4.5 from me.
I didn't do a review of Gentry Boys #1 and it's been a while, but I think I like this one just slightly more than the first one. One great bonus to reading #2 is that you get great updates on what s going on with Saylor and Cord. The downside to this being a standalone book is that some of the information from #1 is repeated to fill readers who may just be joining the series in. In any event, the Gentry Boys has shaped up to be a good series that I would recommend. I will definitely be back for #3.
The moment Creedence Gentry was introduced I knew he was going to be my favorite brother. Don’t get me wrong, I love Cord and Chase, but Creed owns me.
Truly is one of those girls I would love to make my BFF. I would just love to sit and have coffee with her while eating one of her delicious omelets, catching up on the day’s activities.
I loved how these two broken people came to find happiness in each other. There was no fairytale, no billionaire come to wisk the poor girl away. They were just two average people, each having their own awful childhood story to share, that came together. It was simply perfect.
I can’t wait to make my way through the rest of the books in this series, I am in love with the Gentrys!
I am so enjoying this series about the Gentry boys! The first one about Cord was very good. Unbelievably, this one was even better! I love the closeness between these triplet brothers who survived a horrific childhood because of the bond they shared. Initially, I was surprised that this 2nd book is about Creed, the dark, brooding, somewhat introverted one but trust me, he quickly grows on you. While I knew that, as a romance, the book would have a HEA, I read some portions of the book with dread because of the ordeal Creed (and those who loved him) were facing.
The heroine Truly had her own demons from her past. She and Creed turned out to be perfect for each other. I loved how she was like a balm for his troubled spirit. Gentry cousin Deck (Declan) earned my admiration and respect through his brief involvement in the plot. I hope there is or will be a book about him, too. Now, on to book 3 and Chase's story!
